Hue is the capital city of Thua Thien – Hue province in the central Vietnam and Hue Citadel is the city’s signature attraction. Set just back from the Perfume River, the Imperial City dates back to the beginning of the nineteenth century. It was the seat of power for the country’s last dynasty, the Nguyen Dynasty and it was from here that the last Emperor Bao Dai abdicated in favour of Ho Chi Minh’s revolutionary forces in 1945.
The Imperial Citadel was the home of Vietnam's last royal dynasty, the Nguyen Dynasty (1802 - 1945). Despite being severely damaged in conflicts with both French and US forces, the citadel remains Hue's most popular and most important historic site.
From Hue, visitors can take some day trips to Hue, Hoi An, Da Nang, Phong Nha and DMZ Quang Tri. Explore what Asia Group Tour offers in this destination.
