Itinerary
At 09:00 AM or 02:00 PM, our student guide will welcome you at your hotel before starting the walking tour to discover Hanoi’s Old Quarter and French Quarter.
In the past, traditional craft villages gradually developed into streets, and many of these streets no longer feature the trades reflected in their names. However, it is well worth wandering along these historic streets, where you are sure to enjoy many fascinating experiences.
Despite the damage caused by the Vietnam War, the Old Quarter has retained many of its original features, making it particularly appealing to tourists, especially those interested in architecture. The houses here are neither tall buildings commonly found in modern cities nor stilt houses built on wooden poles, which are traditionally found in Vietnam’s mountainous regions. Instead, they are known as “tube houses”—narrow buildings with small frontages but considerable depth.
After walking around and enjoying some interesting places in the Old Quarter, you will be guided to the Hoan Kiem Lake area, where you can visit Ngoc Son Temple and then begin exploring the French Quarter.
Although the French colonial period ended a long time ago, many examples of French architecture and Art Deco design can still be found in this quarter, creating a unique and charming atmosphere that reflects Hanoi’s elegance and sophistication.
