I enjoyed my special, memorable and often untouristy journey in Central Laos. I was lucky enough to have my own one on one guide and driver. The guide shared his local knowledge with me without drowning me in too many historical details that I would not remember. I got to see and understand the lives of the poor but hardworking local peoples. This was special. Apart from the stunning beauty of the natural surroundings. Even tho we had very little sun and lots of cloud and mist, there was plenty of atmosphere. And to visit and photograph all the intricate temples and wat. Again, casual enough not to be overwhelmed by them all. He was genuine and sincere. Just a pity the roads are so horrendously broken and rough and winding. Not pleasant driving conditions. But worth it when you finally reach another interesting destination! I will remember Laos and her people fondly.
