Itineraries
- Day 1: Arrival in Luang Prabang - City Tour
-
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for check-in.
After a short rest, your “4-day Luang Prabang Tour” begins with a visit to the magnificent Wat Xiengthong, a superb example of Lao temple architecture, featuring a sweeping two-tiered roof and ornate mosaics, including a beautiful glass montage of the “Tree of Life” on the rear temple wall.
If time permits, we will take a short walk through the small streets of the city center, observing the daily lives of local people.
After that, you will visit the Royal Palace Museum, which was built in 1904 during the French colonial era for King Sisavang Vong and his family.
In the late afternoon, we will climb to the top of Mount Phousi to explore the sacred, gilded stupa and enjoy a panoramic sunset view of the city and the Mekong River.
A welcome dinner will be served at a local restaurant, accompanied by traditional dance and folk songs, offering a wonderful opportunity to experience Lao culture.
The tour concludes with a visit to the famous Night Market, where you can find a lovely selection of handmade textiles crafted by local people and hill tribes from the areas surrounding Luang Prabang. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

- Day 2: Elephant Experience - Mekong River Cruise
-
Wake up at sunrise as we prepare to witness one of the most sacred traditions in Laos: the daily morning alms-giving ceremony, which dates back to the 14th century. More than 200 Buddhist monks depart from various temples to collect their daily meals from faithful residents sitting quietly along the streets.
From there, we will visit the temporary morning market near the former Royal Palace. With goods displayed directly on the ground, local people come here to trade their daily catch and produce, ranging from rice and vegetables to fish and chicken. This is the perfect opportunity to experience the flavors of local life.
After breakfast, we drive directly to Ban Xang Hai, which is famous for its traditional rice whiskey distillation.
From there, we enjoy a 30-minute elephant ride at the nearby elephant camp, exploring the Mekong River area.
We continue driving to Ban Pak Ou, where we take a boat across the Mekong River to visit the mysterious Pak Ou Caves. These two interconnected caves are filled with thousands of gold-lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes, left by pilgrims.
We then take a boat downstream along the Mekong River back to Luang Prabang.
Upon arrival, we visit the UXO Visitor Center (closed on Saturdays and Sundays), where you can find documentation about the Secret War in Laos.
If time permits, we may also visit the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre (closed on Mondays) to learn about the many ethnic cultures of Laos.
Transfer back to your hotel. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
You may find five reasons to join the elephant tour here.

- Day 3: Rice Experience - Kuang Si Waterfalls
-
Begin today’s close-up look at daily Laotian life with a morning visit to a community-based rice farm in the idyllic countryside outside Luang Prabang. Surrounded by mountains and rice paddies, you’ll have the opportunity to experience rural life as a Laotian farmer would, trying your hand at various farm activities or observing them from the balcony of a traditional Lao rice house, set amidst rice terraces and an organic vegetable farm.
You’ll also have time to explore nearby workshops where local bamboo weavers, blacksmiths, and sugar cane processors practice their crafts. Then, take a tour of the organic garden to learn how natural herbs are used in traditional medicine.
Lunch will be served on the terrace overlooking the rice fields.
Later, we drive to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfall, the largest waterfall in the Luang Prabang area, featuring three tiers and a 50-meter drop into spectacular azure pools before flowing downstream. The pools also make excellent swimming spots and are very popular with both tourists and locals.
We will also make a short visit to the Bear Rescue Center, which houses a couple of dozen animals rescued from poachers and traffickers.
On the way back to town, we will make a short visit to the Ock Pop Tok Living Craft Center. Located in a peaceful setting close to the Mekong River, this beautiful, traditionally styled workshop is where weavers, spinners, and batik makers produce high-quality fabrics. It offers free tours every half-hour and is also the perfect spot to admire the sunset.
Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Great experience!!! Can't help thinking about the interesting days in Laos. Our group of friends have experienced so many things in this country, really impressed with the boat trip on the Mekong river, the river is really big, this side is Laos, Thailand is on the other side, we had seen clearly the life of Thai people from Laos, very special and unique.
